Presenter plays violin version of STV News theme tune while working from home

STV presenter Polly Bartlett pulled some strings to cheer us all up today – and it was music to our ears.

The entertainment reporter played a violin version of the STV News theme tune while working from home.

Polly, 24, was inspired by BBC Wales weatherman Owain Wyn Evans, after he went viral yesterday drumming along to his show’s music.

The entertainment reporter, who studied music and drama at university, said she “loved” Owain’s rendition but was raising him with a performance of her own.

Humble Polly, who moved to STV from the Lorraine show 18 months ago, told the Record she just wanted to provide a bit of light relief for people during the coronavirus lockdown, and she wished she “could actually play in tune”.

Polly has been working from her family’s home in Edinburgh

She added: “I played at school but I haven’t practiced in about six years!

“Hopefully our lockdown fun brings a wee smile or two.”

Polly, who lives in Glasgow, has been forced to find new ways to do her day job amid the global health crisis, like the rest of us, and has gone home to be with her family in Edinburgh for the duration.

Working from a super stylish living room, she’s been interviewing celebrities and filming segments with a wee bit of help from her mum, who has been a stand-in director/camera woman for her daughter.

Now that Polly has joined her BBC rival in showing off her hidden talents to cheer us up during lockdown, might we be seeing some star turns from anyone else?
