Premier League transfer news: Pogba, Tierney, Maguire, Mustafi, De Gea, Alderweireld

Premier League transfer gossip and rumours

Juve prepare Pogba bid

Juventus are preparing a £120m bid to bring Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba back to Turin.

The Sunday Times reports that the Italian giants are desperate to prise the Frenchman from Old Trafford, “as part of an audacious strategy to win the Champions League”.

While Juve have dominated Serie A in recent years, success has eluded them in Europe’s showpiece tournament, and that’s why they are ready to break the bank to bring Pogba back to the club.

They sold Pogba to United in 2016 for £92m, and while his form in the three years since has been patchy, Juventus believe they can get the best out of him.

But the Sunday Times says that any bid is unlikely to succeed with United “resolved to resist any efforts to prise Pogba away from them”.

That’s despite recent comments by the player’s agent, Mino Raiola, who said that everyone at Old Trafford “knows the willingness of Paul to move on. We are in the process of that”.

Arsenal face tussle for Tierney

Arsenal are facing increased competition from Napoli as the race to sign Celtic full-back Kieran Tierney intensifies. Last month it appeared that the Gunners were on course to land the 22-year-old defender, but with Napoli set to sell their current left-back, Mario Rui, they are now eyeing up Tierney as a replacement. Arsenal’s initial offer of £15m was rejected by Scottish champions Celtic and if Napoli meet the £25m asking price then they will beat the Gunners to the prize. Maguire in the sights

Manchester United “have a clear run at Harry Maguire” after Manchester City dropped out of the race to sign the 26-year-old defender. However, there is a catch. Namely, that Leicester will only sell for £85m in “hard cash”. United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is determined to bring the England star to Old Trafford but he will have to improve on his opening offer of £70m plus Argentine Marcos Rojo. The Foxes are not interested in “make-weight cast-offs”, and will accept nothing less than a wad of wonga for Maguire. Inter patient over Lukaku

Inter Milan remain interested in signing Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku, but CEO Giuseppe Marotta says the Italian club “cannot rush” a deal.
