Premier League transfer news and rumours
Sancho drops Man Utd hint
Young England star Jadon Sancho is at the centre of a transfer tussle between Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain, but his reaction to last night’s events in Paris give a clue as to where his loyalties lie, says the Daily Mirror.
Sancho posted a screen shot of England team-mate Marcus Rashford’s penalty against the French champions on Instagram, which he accompanied with the text: “Rashhyyyy”. It wasn’t much compared to some of the reaction on social media after the game but suggests the Englishman still has a soft spot for the Premier League.
The 18-year-old quit Man City for Borussia Dortmund in 2017, but could now command a transfer fee of £100m after a sensational start to his career in Germany.
Liverpool want Werner
Liverpool’s interest in RB Leipzig’s German striker Timo Werner has been given boosted after the player’s current manager Ralf Rangnick moved to “shut down” talk of a move to Bayern Munich, reports the Liverpool Echo.
And the paper also follows up on reports in Germany that the Reds have contacted Leipzig to ‘signal their interest’ in the forward.
“There is speculation Werner has been offered a double-your-money deal worth £5.2m-per-year to stay with Rangnick’s side,” says the paper. “But his current contract expires in 2020 – and Leipzig’s hand may soon be forced if they want to secure a decent fee for their 23-year-old star.”
Abraham set for Bundesliga move?
Another young England star who could be plying his trade in Germany is Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham, currently on loan at Aston Villa.
According to The Sun, the 21-year-old has attracted the interest of RB Leipzig, who could be in the market for a new goal threat this summer if Werner does leave.
The Chelsea player is “the latest English-based youngster to attract interest from Bundesliga clubs”, says the paper.
“The England forward has scored 21 goals and was subject of interest from Wolves in January before opting to stay at Villa Park.
“Leipzig loaned Emile Smith Rowe from Arsenal in January and also recruited Scotland winger Oliver Burke before his return to England.”
Man Utd want Fernandes
Manchester United have opened talks with Sporting Lisbon’s £50m-rated midfielder Bruno Fernandes, reports the Daily Mirror, picking up on reports in Portugal.
The 24-year-old “looks certain” to leave Sporting in the summer and is on the radar of big clubs including Liverpool and Chelsea.
But the Portuguese media says Manchester United have made the first move and have made contact with Sporting to open talks with the player over a possible transfer.
Fernandes’ contract release clause is €100m (£86m), but it is believed Sporting would let the 24-year-old go for around £50m, says the Mirror.
Will Spurs move for Cutrone?
Website Football.London has resurrected rumours that Spurs are hot on the heels of 21-year-old AC Milan striker Patrick Cutrone.
“The Italian is said to be unhappy at the San Siro due to his lack of playing time – following Gonzalo Higuain’s loan move to Chelsea in January, the club bought Krzysztof Piatek, who has since kept him out of the side,” it explains, before sheepishly adding. “Milan will reportedly allow the striker to leave for a fee in the region of €30m-€35m, with his current contract expiring in 2023. However, given his reluctance to play second fiddle at Milan, it would remain to be seen whether he’d be content to act as back up to Harry Kane.”
Stoke vs Real Madrid for Hegazi
Real Madrid will go head to head with… Stoke City this summer as they fight to sign West Brom defender Ahmed Hegazi, claims a breathless Stoke Sentinal.
“The 28-year-old Egypt international has emerged as a target for a host of clubs, according to media reports in his own county – including Real Madrid and Stoke City.
“Real versus the Potters? Yep, no contest obviously – the big man is on the way to the bet365 Stadium this summer!”
