Premier League top four predicted by document before coronavirus

The outbreak of the coronavirus has sparked much uncertainty around the world.

The vast majority of all sport have been suspended, and it is not yet known when the Premier League season will resume – if at all.

Before the campaign got underway, BT Sport commissioned ‘The Script of the Season’.

The Script, which was produced alongside data experts at Google Cloud, Opta and Squawka, considered everything from a mathematical standpoint to predict how the 2019/20 campaign would play out.

The Script was unable to factor in human interference, including red cards and injuries – oh, and a global pandemic. But it has looked at everything else to determine the most likely outcome from each game scheduled to play this season.

And it makes for interesting reading, where the race for a Champions League spot is concerned.

According to The Script – looking at the fixtures from here until the end of the campaign – Liverpool are destined to win a first Premier League title.

The Reds are predicted to finish on 99 points – just missing out on a tally of 100; a defeat by Manchester City the reason for this.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are predicted to win the title

Pep Guardiola’s Man City are predicted to finish second on 83 points.

They thump Arsenal 3-0 in the run-in as well as batter Liverpool 4-1, but ultimately it’s not good enough and the Citizens finish 16 points behind the Reds.

Leicester City are predicted to finish third, leaving Chelsea,Manchester United, Tottenham, Arsenal, Wolves and Sheffield United battling it out for fourth spot.
