POTENTIAL Army recruits are being targeted using adverts on Spotify.
Top brass know youngsters listen to their favourite songs on streaming services and hope to tap into that for the next generation of troops.
It is part of the Your Army Needs You recruitment campaign.
A briefing document says that today’s youngsters have been written off as “snowflakes, self-obsessed, class clowns or binge gamers”.
But it adds the Army sees them as “compassionate, confident, spirited, driven and purposeful”.
It concludes: “All this potential is exactly what the Army needs to make a difference around the world, hence our campaign line ‘Your Army Needs You’.”
Head of recruiting, Colonel Nick MacKenzie, said: “Using streaming services is just one part of the campaign to attract people into a career in the Army.”
It comes after numbers have fallen from 82,000 to 73,470 in recent years in what has been described as an “abysmal” £495million hiring process by Capita.
It included a website that cost three times its budget and was more than four years late, a report by the National Audit Office said.
