With a body, and face, adorned with tattoos and piercings, Post Malone is no stranger to altering his image with modifications.
And this time it’s his teeth’s turn to undergo a makeover.
The 25-year-old singer has forked out a whopping $1.6 million (£1.1m) to have two diamonds permanently fitted to his teeth.
His new mouth jewellery isn’t just a small gem or two either – in the pictures released of his new grin, the diamonds appear to take the form of full teeth.
Posting the images to his Instagram account on Monday, cosmetic dentist Naoki Hayashi showcased their latest work on the famous singer.
The diamonds on the star’s two post crowns amount to a total weight of 12 carats as the work also included 28 units of ceramic restoration.
The rapper, whose real name is Austin Richard Post, underwent the blingy procedure under the guidance of multiple people including Naoki, celebrity dentist Thomas Connelly and Angel City Jeweler’s Issac Bokhoor.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, Dr Connelly revealed that the star’s unique request took time to complete and they went through over a year of trials as he set about making a whole diamond tooth for the first time.
“It’s very difficult to cut holes in diamonds without destroying them,” he told the publication.
“‘In order to make a diamond in the shape of a tooth — for example, if you get a six-carat canine tooth, you need a 12-carat raw cube. So there’s a lot of waste.”
The dentist revealed that the end result came from using 40 carats of diamonds sourced from Belgium and cut in Israel.
He also added that he suspects many will follow the singer’s unique idea and a trend may begin.
“He’s now got two functional, full diamond teeth. They light up the room. They sparkle, they shine; they’re amazing,” he said
“I’ve been talking to a few other people who were waiting to see how this turned out before they dropped their million. So we’ll see.”
Post Malone is no stranger to unusual aesthetics and previously admitted that he uses tattoos as a way to feel more confident with his body image.
Speaking to GQ last year, he said “I’m a ugly-ass motherf**ker” before going on to admit that his multiple inkings “does maybe come from a place of insecurity, to where I don’t like how I look”.
The star also said: “I’m going to put something cool on there so I can look at myself and say, ‘You look cool, kid,’ and have a modicum of self-confidence, when it comes to my appearance.”
Killing two birds with one stone, the singer recently told Jimmy Kimmel that he also had a new tattoo while having his teeth checked out.
He told the US talk show host: “We talked about it and we were just like, you know, ‘I’m gonna be sitting around for hours doing nothing anyways, why not get two bad things out of the way at the same time?'”
