Police are planning to issue an arrest warrant for Big Bang star Seungri this week.

Investigations against the 28-year-old began last month, amid allegations that he arranged escorts for clients and was part of a chatroom which shared illegally obtained footage.

Seungri has been questioned 15 times by police in relation to tax evasion, sharing of illegal footage, embezzlement and prostitution mediation.

Now, police have confirmed they are wrapping up the investigations into Seungri and comedian Yoo In Suk – who is accused of embezzlement in relation to the Burning Sun nightclub – this week.

Commissioner of the Seoul Metropolitan Police, Won Kyung Hwan, said: ‘Investigations on Seungri are coming to an end. We will try to finish our investigations on Seungri and Mr. Yu this week.’

Speaking about whether arrest warrants would be issued, Won said: ‘Warrants are issued depending on the seriousness of the situation, concerns about flight, or concerns on destroying evidence. We cannot guess if the warrant will be accepted. We will be requesting a warrant according to our investigations. Whether it will be issued is up to the court.’

This comes after police found that Seungri used a YG Entertainment credit card to pay for a group of Japanese investors to stay at a hotel in Seoul in 2015.

Former Yuri Holdings’ chief executive Yoo In Suk told police that sexual services were offered to the men.

Seungri, TV star Jung Joon Young, Highlight’s Yong Jun-hyung and FT Island’s Choi Jung Joon were all found to be part of a Kakaotalk group chat where illegal footage was circulated.

Jung Joon Young was the first to be arrested after admitting to sharing illegally filmed videos in the chatroom.
