A chubby squirrel has become an internet star after it was filmed devouring a McDonald’s cheeseburger.
The squirrel was caught making light work of the snack by Jamie Walton, 36, near a McDonald’s in Venice, Florida.
‘I pulled into a parking space and it was a few feet from my door,’ Walton said. ‘I thought it was funny and people have found it amusing.’
Video footage shows that the burger is nearly the width as the squirrel, as the rodent casually chows down on the meal.
The squirrel now has thousands of views with comments from all over the world with one viewer saying, ‘I think I’ve found my spirit animal.’
Some questioned if it was actually a female squirrel who was pregnant, although Walton attempted to debunk this theory.
‘There have been many comments saying the squirrel is pregnant,’ Walton said. ‘It is not typical for them to give birth this time of year, but I am not an expert.’
Squirrels are typically known for eating acorns and nuts, but squirrels can eat meat when faced with hunger. They have spotted eating small birds, snakes and even other rodents.
Walton added that there are many rodents in Florida who will ‘eat anything available.’
