Planet Zoo South America DLC launches today

Planet Zoo enthusiasts will now have more of the world to explore with the brand new South America Pack DLC, which launches later on today for £7.99/US$9.99 on Steam.

Following on from the first DLC for Planet Zoo – the Arctic Pack – this pack will feature five new animals from the continent of South America and over 250 design options for building, decorating and scenic purposes. These include creating Aztec-themed zoos in the jungle and the option to add exotic foliage that capture this part of the world.

Each animal will include new ways to be cared for and fun animations to enjoy. The five animals that come with the South America Pack DLC are:

  • Jaguar
  • Capuchin Monkey
  • Giant Anteater
  • Red-Eyed Tree Frog
  • Llama

I’ve had a look at the DLC myself, and was impressed by the new scenery options for zoos. This pack really excels in creating an adventurous environment and is a great option for build enthusiasts who are willing to spend significant time creating something truly unique – I was particularly a fan of the tropical biome.

Unfortunately, this DLC has no scenarios in the career track as the Arctic Pack DLC did. There is of course still scope for new animals and gameplay in the future – Planet Zoo fans have been pushing for an aquatic/marine based expansion pack for fish and other water creatures.

Those trying to save their pennies at the moment will still be able to get new Planet Zoo content, as a free update 1.2 will also be available which will include a Genealogy tab to discover animal family trees, more difficult settings, a range of new decorative items and research sharing across franchise zoos.
