A removable board at the bottom gives feet a stable rest and prevents feet rolling into each other.

The company said: “Using this plane footrest, let your legs gently sway with the movement of the plane to help prevent lower back pain, stiffness and leg swelling suffered during long flights.

“You can simply hang the foot sling on the arms of the tray table and place your feet in footrest.

“The adjustable strap allows for the perfect length to provide necessary support to your feet.”

The product, which is sold for $18.72 (£14.55) on Amazon has a rating of 4.7 out of 5 among customers, with many raving about how it transformed their plane journeys.

The product is said to be especially useful for shorter passengers whose feet don’t touch the ground.

One customer called Alexis Hernandez said: “I fly frequently for work, unfortunately, there is not enough space for my legs to move and keep comfortable.

“This product is a leg, hip and back saver. The strap is adjustable and so you can set it to place your legs and knees higher or lower to suit your comfort.”

Another customer who goes by the name FM said: ” I recently used it on a cross country plane ride and it SAVED me.”

A user with the nickname Spender_of_useless_thangs added: “Love this product. If your feet does not lay flat on the ground then this is made for you. Made my flight manageable. Especially long flights and for those seats that do not recline. “
