Pixie Lott says The Voice Kids brings out her ‘inner child’ as she opens up about friendship with Jessie J

Pixie Lott says the Voice Kids brings out her “inner child” and has helped her strike up a friendship with fellow judge Jessie J.

Lott, below, is one of the coaches on the ITV series, sitting alongside  Will.i.am, Danny Jones and Jessie, who joined the team this series.

“We all get on so well and it’s so nice to have a girl with me in the middle of two crazy boys,” Lott said. “We’re all laughing or crying. I’ve worked with Jessie before but not as closely, so it’s been lovely to get to know her better. She’s amazing. It’s been so much fun.

“She’s so great with kids. Working with kids brings out your inner kid, so that’s why we have very silly moments.”

She explained that the trio didn’t put Jessie J, real name Jessica Cornish, through an “initiation” as she was “used to the red chair” having been a coach on The Voice UK in 2012, when the main series was on BBC One.

Lott admitted it “can be hard to say no” because of the high standard of the performers, even at the blind audition stage, but says the experience of being rejected is “just as valuable” to their careers and praised the contestants for “reminding her what the industry is about”.

“There is nothing but the joy of performing and love,” she said. “It’s the most feel-good happy show.”

Lott, born in Bromley, teamed up with smartphone maker OPPO ahead of Wimbledon to help tourists see the sights and win tickets to the event. The Mama Do singer said “seeing the history and exploring” was one of her favourite things in London, citing St Paul’s and Big Ben among her favourite hotspots.

As the first official smartphone partner of The Championships, Wimbledon, OPPO is offering the chance to win tickets to the tournament. To be in with a chance of winning, fans can share a photo on social media of the OPPO bus if they spot it around London, using the hashtag #AceTheShot.
