Pink reveals she has had coronavirus before slamming Donald Trump over US testing

American singer Pink has revealed she contracted coronavirus as she donated US$1 million to emergency funds and blasted Donald Trump’s handling of the crisis.

The superstar said she and her three-year-old son Jameson had shown symptoms of Covid-19 two weeks ago and that she tested positive.

Both had since tested negative “thankfully”, the Grammy Award-winner said, before she lambasted the US government’s response.

Pink told her 7.7m followers on Instangram: “It is an absolute travesty and failure of our government to not make testing more widely accessible.

“This illness is serious and real.

“People need to know that the illness affects the young and old, healthy and unhealthy, rich and poor, and we must make testing free and more widely accessible to protect our children, our families, our friends and our communities.”

The latest Covid-19-related death toll in Americaaccording to John Hopkins University, is 7,151 and there have been more than 278,000 cases.

She continued in a direct appeal to fans: “These next two weeks are crucial: please stay home. Please. Stay. Home.”

Pink, born Alecia Beth Moore, said she was donating $500,000 (£407,000) to both the City of Los Angeles Mayor’s Emergency Covid-19 crisis fund and the Temple University Hospital Emergency Fund in Philadelphia “in an effort to support the healthcare professionals who are battling on the frontlines every day.”

The 40-year-old said the second donation was in honour of her mother Judy who had worked at Temple’s heart transplant centre for 18 years.

Pink added: “THANK YOU to all of our healthcare professionals and everyone in the world who are working so hard to protect our loved ones. You are our heroes!”
