Piers Morgan strokes Susanna Reid's hair with a plastic HAND on Good Morning Britain

The coronavirus epidemic proved to be an unlikely source of light relief as Piers Morgan, Susanna Reid and Charlotte Hawkins presented Tuesday’s edition of Good Morning Britain.

The presenting team reflected on growing concerns regarding the spread of the virus after the World Health Organisation recommended anyone with a sneeze or cough maintain a one metre social distance from others.

And mindfulness surrounding human contact prompted Piers to playfully stroke Susanna’s hair with a shop dummy’s arm after she refused to touch his hand.

The 54-year old had resorted to using the plastic limb after being rebuffed while attempting to compare hand sizes with his co-host.    

‘You’ve got tiny hands,’ he challenged her while raising a palm.  ‘Put yours up against mine. Put it up against it.’ 

But with current warnings in mind, Susanna, 49, bluntly refused, resulting in Piers retrieving the dummy’s arm from behind the studio desk.

‘I’m just helping do Susanna’s hair,’ he joked, before admitting his use of the limb was ‘really quite creepy.’

The incident came after Piers slammed Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex following their final official duties as a senior members of the Royal family.

Hitting out at Harry and former actress Meghan, he claimed she  “splits people up,” while the couple had been “parading in front of the media” following their temporary return from North America.

He also asked why the couple did not bring their son Archie to the UK with them to see his grandmother and said Harry and Meghan ‘did not like the criticism.’

Piers added: ‘You’ve got to earn support, you’ve got to earn respect but I think they’re very divisive.

‘They didn’t like all the criticism. I thought it was perfectly justified. The papers were positive before they only got criticising when stuff was worth criticising.

With Susanna defending the beleaguered couple, Piers raged: ‘My position is I think she’s caused some damage to the Queen and I am allowed to stay that.

‘You are allowed your opinion because you are infatuated by them, I should be allowed to because I am not. I don’t see why your views are more valid than mine.’
