Piers Morgan says Sharon Osbourne's The Talk exit 'should appal everyone' amid Meghan row

Mrs O clashed with former co-star Sheryl Underwood whose views did not align with Piers’ over Meghan, 39, and husband Prince Harry, 36.

Piers had criticised the Duchess’ claims that she suffered with her mental health and faced racist comments during her time within the walls of the Palace.

During an episode that aired on March 10, Sheryl asked Sharon: “What would you say to people who may feel that, while you’re standing by your friend, it appears that you gave validation or safe haven to something that he has uttered that is racist, even if you don’t agree?”

Former X Factor judge Sharon replied: “I feel even like I’m about to be put in the electric chair because I have a friend who many people think is a racist so that makes me a racist.”

Now, Ozzy Osbourne’s wife has spoken for the first time and it didn’t take long for Piers to have his say on social media.

In view of his 7.9 million Twitter followers, the outspoken journalist shared Sharon’s interview alongside the statement: “Brilliant interview that should shock & appal everyone who values free speech.

“Sharon was driven out of the job she loved for defending my right to disbelieve a liar.”

The 55-year-old added: “A crime for which, like me, she was shamefully branded a racist.

“Read it, then send @MrsSOsbourne your support.”

“I know what I am, I know my faults. I know I behaved badly, I did not behave professionally, but neither did they, I know my part, but I know I’m not a racist,” Sharon told You Magazine.

Following the heated episode, Brixton born Sharon says that she has received death threats from people wanting to “cut her throat” in the night as well as poisoning her ‘little baby’, her dog, Bella.

Speaking of the now-infamous interview with Oprah, Sharon said: “This all started with two spoiled young people wanting to be victims, wanting to get publicity for what they’re doing in their life,

“‘What are you victims of? You wanted your freedom. You’ve got it. Now, what is the matter? What are you complaining about? We’ve all got problems in our family. There’s always one a**hole,” she said of the Sussexes.

It had been widely reported that Sharon chose to snub Monday’s edition of The Talk as the show returned to the airwaves following its month-long hiatus.

However, a representative for Mrs Osbourne exclusively told Express.co.uk: “She didn’t watch Netflix, Amazon, BBC, HBO either, or the Disney channel, Sky Sport and the History Channel.”

Following the bombshell episode during which Sharon clashed with Sheryl, CBS announced that the star would not be returning to the show.

A statement from CBS read: “Sharon Osbourne has decided to leave The Talk.

“The events of the 10 March broadcast were upsetting to everyone involved, including the audience watching at home.”

Bosses went on to add: “As part of our review, we concluded that Sharon’s behaviour towards her co-hosts during the 10 March episode did not align with our values for a respectful workplace.

“We also did not find any evidence that CBS executives orchestrated the discussion or blindsided any of the hosts.

“At the same time, we acknowledge the network and studio teams, as well as the showrunners, are accountable for what happened during that broadcast.”

The statement continued: “As it was clear the co-hosts were not properly prepared by the staff for a complex and sensitive discussion involving race.

“During this week’s hiatus, we are coordinating workshops, listening sessions and training about equity, inclusion and cultural awareness for the hosts, producers and crew.

“Going forward, we are identifying plans to enhance the producing staff and producing procedures to better serve the hosts, the production and, ultimately, our viewers.”
