Piers Morgan says his 19-year-old son is showing symptoms of coronavirus

Piers Morgan has revealed one of his sons has coronavirus symptoms.

The Good Morning Britain presenter revealed to his co-host Susanna Reid, who has just returned to work after self-isolating for two weeks, that his 19-year-old son, Albert, has lost his sense of taste and smell.

Piers made the revelation while speaking to the Daily Mirror ‘s Kevin Maguire and journalist Andrew Pierce, who has suffered from coronavirus.

Andrew was describing the symptoms when Piers said: “One of my sons had it in a much milder way. He lost his taste and smell and still hasn’t got it back.”

Turning to him, shocked Susanna asked: “One of your sons?”

Piers explained: “Yeah my youngest boy had it. He had that taste and smell thing that I think now most people are associating with the virus.

“Luckily he didn’t get anything like what you had but he did experience it for a few days. It’s a very unnerving thing to get.”

Piers has three sons but has not seen any of them since Boris Johnson called for lockdown in the UK as they don’t live with him.

Piers’ co-presenter Susanna Reid just returned to work on Monday after self-isolating for two weeks after one of her sons had developed a mild cough.

She herself had not shown any symptoms but followed government advice and stayed at home and did appear on the show a few times via video link.

Piers also coughed while on air, but quickly told viewers that he was fine, he said: “I just coughed there and I know some people at home will be thinking, oh there he goes he has got it.

“People on TV cough all the time, I hear people do it on air. But it will worry people. The moment you do everyone goes mad.”

*Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV at 6am
