Piers Morgan reveals he's lent his holiday homes to loved ones amid coronavirus pandemic

Piers Morgan has revealed he’s lent his holiday homes to loved ones as he hit back at critics who suggested he had it easy while self-isolating.

The Good Morning Britain host, 55, took to Twitter on Sunday to berate those who took advantage of the sunny weekend weather to sunbathe in local parks, branding them ‘selfish, reckless b*****ds’.

But when critics proposed that he was isolating with a ‘massive garden and pool’, Piers unveiled the extend of his situation.

The famously vocal star had earlier shared his anger that Britons were still flouting the social distancing rule as they took to parks and public spaces in their droves to enjoy the fine weather.

Venting his frustration, he tweeted: ‘Sunbathing is against the rules that have been set out for important public health reasons.. to save lives & help the NHS.’ – Health Secretary@MattHancock on @SophyRidgeSky.

‘This could not be any clearer. If you go out today to sunbathe, you are a selfish, reckless b*****d.’

His post was hit with a flood of responses, with many stating that he should have been clearer in his tweet as they said sunbathing in one’s own garden is allowed.

However, one tweet stuck out for Piers, which read: ‘Wonder if Piers Morgan is giving up his massive garden and pool in sympathy with all the families in cramped council flats he thinks are selfish reckless b******s for enjoying a bit of sun.’

The TV personality was quick to give his side of the story, stating his garden was ‘very small’ and at the same time revealed that his homes in Sussex and LA were occupied by his loved one.

He retorted: ‘I’m in London with no pool, and a very small garden. I’ve lent my LA home to a friend who had a very small one. And my parents are self-isolating at our Sussex home.

‘Hope this helps with your concerns, which have nothing to do with someone’s ability to observe simple rules.’

Piers had earlier defended the size of his garden to followers on Twitter on Saturday.

Alongside a snap of his outdoor space, he penned: ‘For all those asking, this is the size of my ‘massive f**king garden’ at my London home where I will be for the duration of this crisis. I can only apologise for the ostentatious, luxurious enormity of it.’

Meanwhile, on a lighter note, the TV host shared a rare snap of his daughter Elise, eight, on Saturday as they played a game of spillikins during lockdown.

Spillikins is a traditional game in which each player must pick up a stick in turn without disrupting the pile.

And Piers revealed he was keen to impart his knowledge of the classic game onto his daughter as they played over the weekend.

Alongside a picture of an excited Elise playing, he penned:  ‘Giving my daughter a masterclass in giant-sized Spillikins. Every time she gets close to lifting one out, I make her laugh.’

As well as Elise whom he shares with wife Celia Waldren, Piers also has sons Albert, 19, Spencer, 26, and Stanley, 22, with his ex-wife Marion Shalloe.

And Piers ensured that he was in touch with his boys amid the pandemic too as on Friday he shared a picture of a video call between himself and sons Spencer and Albert.
