Piers Morgan makes ‘plastic surgery’ dig at Simon Cowell in 60th birthday message

Piers Morgan used his birthday message to Simon Cowell to take a shot at his friend’s rumoured “plastic surgery.”

The Good Morning Britain host shared an old photo on Instagram of him and Cowell, dating back to his stint as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent.

“Happy 60th Birthday to my (very) old mate @simoncowell,” he wrote, before adding a savage dig at his former colleague’s expense.

“A great guy to whom I owe a lot… but no amount of plastic surgery can change the fact his age now begins with a 6 and mine with a 5,” he continued.

The pair worked alongside each other on the hit ITV series from 2007 to 2010 and were joined on the panel by Amanda Holden.

Morgan recently poked fun at Cowell’s appearance in an interview with Holden and her Heart breakfast co-presenter Jamie Theakston, after the music mogul showed off a new look while filming America’s Got Talent.

“Simon Cowell has gone on this ridiculous… he claims it’s a vegan diet,” Morgan told Holden and Theakston.

“I don’t think it is. He’s lost all this weight. He looks like a very sculpted waxwork dummy now.”

Cowell has credited his 20lbs weight loss to his new vegan diet and denied suggestions that he has had a gastric band fitted.

“People have said ‘oh, he’s had a gastric band fitted’ – but I haven’t,” he told Best magazine in August.

“If I had, I would admit to it. This diet is all about what you put into your body. It’s not the Atkins diet or anything else.”

He revealed that he was inspired to embrace a healthier lifestyle after a doctor told him that his diet was “appalling” and implored him to “cut out fatty foods and certain drinks.”

“Within 24 hours I changed my diet and I’ve not looked back since,” he told the publication.

“You feel better, you look better. I cut out a lot of the stuff I shouldn’t have been eating and that was primarily meat, dairy, wheat, sugar – those were the four main things.”
