Piers Morgan: 'I plead guilty' Good Morning Britain host in Donald Trump admission

The ITV favourite, 54, interviewed Donald Trump, 73, during the President’s visit to the UK earlier this month. The pair have been friends since Piers Morgan was named the winner of The Celebrity Apprentice, which was fronted by Trump, in 2008. Ahead of his new documentary, Psychopath, the Good Morning Britain host remarked to this week’s Radio Times: “People call Trump a psychopath. He’s not, he’s more of a narcissist.

Asked if he is similar to his friend, Morgan replied: “I think I have, like Trump, a chilling self-belief and self-confidence.

“If that makes me a narcissist, I plead guilty,” he quipped.

“I like to be at the centre of things and I like things to be about me, so in that sense Trump and I share similar characteristics.

“I probably have a better ability to show empathy than he does,” the presenter added.

“He’s a complex character with lots of different sides to him.

“If you see him interact with his family, his kids all love him and worship him. But the main reason I like Trump is he’s been very loyal to me, privately and publicly, many times.”

Earlier this month, Morgan’s 30-minute interview with the President aired on Good Morning Britain.

Piers Morgan grilled Donald Trump on reports he had called Meghan Markle “nasty”, asking the businessman-turned-politician outright whether he thought that of the Duchess of Sussex.

“They said some of the things that she [Markle] said and it’s actually on tape,” Trump replied. “And I said, ‘Well, I didn’t know she was nasty.’

“I wasn’t referring to she’s nasty. I said she was nasty about me. And essentially I didn’t know she was nasty about me.

“You know what?” he added. “She’s doing a good job. I hope she enjoys her life… I think she’s very nice.”

Appearing dissatisfied with the answer, Morgan went on to press the President further.

“She was nasty to me,” Trump clarified. “And that’s okay for her to be nasty.

“It’s not good for me to be nasty to her and I wasn’t…”

Morgan is best known for hosting Good Morning Britain alongside Susanna Reid, 48.

He joined the team in 2015, one year after Reid moved over to the ITV programme from BBC Breakfast.
