PIERS Morgan has been hit by more Ofcom complaints after tearing into Housing Minister Robert Jenrick on Good Morning Britain.
Viewers were left outraged last week when 55-year-old Piers slammed the 38-year-old politician over the coronavirus pandemic.
The GMB host lost his temper as he demanded to know why more people in the UK couldn’t get tested for the deadly disease.
Piers accused the Government of going into a crisis with “our hands behind our backs”, with Jenrick desperately trying to defend the situation.
The Sun Online can now reveal that the fiery altercation saw GMB rack up 16 complaints to the TV watchdog last week for their coronavirus coverage.
Viewers were left specifically unimpressed by Piers’ treatment of Jenrick.
The news comes just hours after ITV was warned about the controversial star’s “combative presenting” after Good Morning Britain narrowly avoided an official Ofcom investigation.
The regulator instead gave the broadcaster a slap on the wrist after Piers was accused of “mocking Chinese people”.
He came under fire on January 21 for mimicking a Chinese accent while commenting on Princess Anne’s son Peter Phillips’ advert for a Chinese milk brand.
After the incident, ITV issued a statement claiming Piers, 54, did not mean to denigrate, but it did “regret” any offence caused after the 1,589 complaints.
Ofcom welcomed the apology and revealed they’d discussed the complaints with Piers.
The watchdog said: “This was a finely balanced decision in which Ofcom had to take careful account of the right to freedom of expression, and the degree to which these comments had the potential to cause offence, particularly to viewers of Chinese heritage.”
Last week, The Sun Online revealed that Piers had received 52 complaints for the suggestive way he spoke about Carol Vorderman during her live interview on the breakfast show.
