Piers Morgan’s impassioned speech about the NHS’ reliance on overseas workers has gone viral with millions of views of the video.

The Good Morning Britain host was discussing the NHS as frontline healthcare workers across the country battle the coronavirus pandemic on Tuesday morning.

With thousands dying from the virus and Prime Minister Boris Johnson being treated in intensive care at St Thomas’ Hospital for ‘persistent symptoms’ of Covid-19, Piers spoke about the immigrant workforce that had bolstered the NHS response to the virus.

Speaking about the bravery of NHS workers and those from overseas that are part of the workforce, Piers said: “A lovely Filipino woman who works for me – she was on Zoom to her friends yesterday, and they all worked for the NHS.

“I didn’t know that. I didn’t realise every single one of them works for the NHS.”
