Piers Morgan: GMB host in huge spat with former Dancing On Ice star as 'Fire Piers' trends

Piers Morgan, 54, took to the micro-blogging site to slam the Dancing On Ice judge Jason Gardiner, 47, after the latter took aim at the Good Morning Britain host. In view of his 6.8 million Twitter followers, the ITV anchor retweeted a post from Jason which read: “@piersmorgan #PinguMorgan upset by ‘fowl abuse’ he’s gotten on social media. Boo hoo brings a tear to a glass eye! #Facebooktears.” Piers fired back: “Hi Jason, it’s ‘foul’ – you illiterate twerp.” The Dancing On Ice star’s comments comes after the GMB host revealed on the show that he received the most “foul” abuse following a petition to have him removed from the show.

The pair’s fiery exchange did not end there as the broadcaster was at the centre of a debate about transphobia with his guest Benjamin Butterworth on the ITV programme today.

During the live show, Piers slammed the “snowflakes” who have attempted to have him sacked from the breakfast show after the petition began making the rounds online.

Jason later posted a follow up tweet where he accused Piers of “mocking” Benjamin on the show.

He fumed: “@GMB and @Ofcom I am appalled by @piersmorgan mocking Benjamin by mimicking his voice in such an offensive, homophobic and belittling manner. I’m all for differing opinions but I demand this kind of insidious homophobia be removed from our media. This matters because it fuels hate.”

Piers retweeted the post, saying: “Oh shut up you whiny brat. I’m appalled by you, generally, and find you equally offensive.”

Their back and forth comes after Piers recently revealed he now identified as a penguin after an on-air rant about gender last month.

His comments led to a petition being drafted to have the broadcaster removed as a host on the ITV show.

Today, GMB decided to run a poll to see what viewers thought – and it didn’t look good for Piers.

Only 41 per cent want Piers to stay while 59 per cent are desperate for him to leave.

Piers fumed about the issue on the show today, saying: “What’s happened with the poll is that the snowflake sites and accounts have come together because they actually think they can get me fired for having an opinion.

“The main incendiary opinion I have is with the BBC telling children there are 100 genders. I think that is delusional and dangerous.

“But when I say that, even though I’ve always been completely supportive of anybody who transitions, that makes me transphobic.”

The GMB star has since been trending on the social media platform with the hashtags “Fire Piers” and “Save Piers”.

Sitting alongside his co-host Susanna Reid, Piers raged: “We cannot let the snowflakes win. Let’s get these numbers up lets get this back on track.

“And lets put the snowflakes firmly back in their box.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV at 6.30am.
