Piers Morgan, 54, took to Twitter and called out David Lammy, 47, in a heated exchange where the Good Morning Britain presenter claimed the politician had accused Brexit supporters of “surrendering”. In view of his 6.8 million followers, Piers fumed: “You find everything you disagree with ‘sick’. “Your language is the most extreme and emotive of any Parliamentarian, which given the competition from many of your Labour colleagues is quite something. “Try cooling your own rhetorical jets, Mr Lammy, before lecturing everyone else.”
In view of his 567,000 followers, David replied: “Don’t you make a living getting furious at Greggs for making vegan sausage rolls?”
The breakfast anchor’s remark comes after the pair were embroiled in a back and forth exchange after David claimed media reports were using “dangerous language” to create division in Parliament.
The Labour politician had previously hit back at Piers and denied he had accused Brexiteers of “surrendering”.
The Good Morning Britain host previously tweeted: “Hi David, was it equally divisive when you accused Brexiters of surrender, in a House of Commons speech?”
“I did not accuse Brexiteers of surrendering. I said a Brexit deal ‘surrenders our voting rights’ in the EU institutions. Which is undeniably true,” David replied.
“Your both sides equivalence towards a Number 10 dismissing and legitimating threats of violence against MPs is sick.”
The Labour MP was making reference to the broadcaster’s response to Jeremy Corbyn using the death of Jo Cox to “score cheap political points”.
Last week, the GMB host had blasted the Labour leader for a video he shared using Jo Cox’s name to speak about Prime Minister Boris Johnson and the language he is using in Parliament.
He mused: “Corbyn using Jo Cox to score cheap political points, after her family specifically asked people to stop doing this.”
“Absolutely disgraceful,” he added.
Piers had initially called out David for tweeting about the “dangerous language of collusion” after reports claimed Remain MPs are being investigated over “foreign collusion”.
David said: “The dangerous language of collusion collaboration and surrender continues unabated. This No 10 stokes division like no other before it.”
The BBC Breakfast star appeared on The Chase Celebrity Special alongside music legend Mark King, reality star Fearne McCann and MSP Ruth Davidson.
In view of his 578,000 followers, Dan retweeted a message from a viewer who congratulated the celebrities for going for the £104,000 cash prize on the quiz show.
The Football Focus host said: “Well done guys. We had a fantastic time #GoBigOrGoHome (or go big and go home).”
The outspoken host replied: “It was more #GoBigAfterDansGoneHome.”
