Piers Morgan has been enjoying himself on the golf course in Scotland on the second day of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, despite the odd mishap.

Held in St Andrews, the keen amateur was getting stuck in during day two of the event on Friday – although he still couldn’t quite tear himself away from his phone, with the broadcaster sharing videos of his playing, as well as answering a few followers’ questions.

The 56-year-old is playing as an amateur and paired up with professional Connor Syme for the tournament.

Wrapped up warm against the weather, Piers was all in black trousers and a navy jumper and sporting a grey beanie hat and grey puffer jacket, when necessary.

Held at The Old Course in St Andrews, Piers had been captured laughing alongside pro Connor the previous day, and the sun appeared to come out to at least give a little added warmth to those on the course.

Sharing an update on Twitter after the first day of the competition, alongside a picture of him on the rocky coastline, Piers wrote: ‘Loneliness of the amateur golfer at the @dunhilllinks- this pic perfectly sums up my erratic round on Day 1 in torrential rain, gusty winds… and finally, glorious sunshine. Loved every minute. My pro @connor_syme is a helluva player. We’re -6 & in the fight.’

He also couldn’t resist sharing a much-improved clip of his play after Sky Sports caught him sending his tee shot out of bounds and slightly embarrassingly hitting the iconic hotel at St Andrews.

Piers returned with his own video and captioned it: ‘If at first you don’t succeed… try again… and NAIL it’, complete with two fire emojis, a golfer and a hole in one emoji.

The former Good Morning Britain presenter, who is set to join News UK’s new TV channel, TalkTV, with his own show in 2022 recently revealed his delight at poaching a big player from his previous show.

Erron Gordon has been announced Executive Creative Director at News UK Broadcasting and will join Piers’ new programme, taking the leap from launch and his current position as series director of GMB and Peston.

Piers also hit back at Sir Kier Starmer’s support for a female Bond as No Time To Die hits cinemas, which marks Daniel Craig’s last outing as 007.

Referencing Craig’s suggestion that there ‘should be a part just as good as James Bond’ for women, Piers added in his MailOnline column: ‘In other words, putting a less sensitively worded spin on their advice: create your own bloody spies, ladies.’
