Piers Morgan is reacting to the Conservative Party win in the general election exactly as you’d expect.

Despite usually taking a day off from Good Morning Britain on Fridays, Piers joined Susanna Reid on GMB alongside a panel, including Stanley and Rachel Johnson, to discuss Labour’s disastrous night at the polls.

And Piers used his bonus day to lay into Hugh Grant and Steve Coogan, who urged people to vote tactically to unseat Tories in the general election.

The 54-year-old addressed Hugh’s reaction to the Tory majority, after the Love Actually star – who was canvassing with Lib Dem MP Luciana Berger, who failed to win – was pictured checking his phone with an unimpressed expression as the exit poll results were announced.

Grant, 59, then tweeted: ‘There goes the neighbourhood.’

Piers took the opportunity to call out celebrities who ‘insulted’ Tory voters by implying they were ignorant.

He said: ‘[Grant’s] reaction was “There goes the neighbourhood”. Actually, there goes his credibility. What we’ve discovered, as Hillary Clinton, celebrities can have the opposite effect. Entitled millionaires telling us our vote doesn’t count.

‘I watched Coogan on Channel 4 news I think it was, the day before the election, and he was so sneering about Brexiteers, called them stupid and thick, said his character Alan Partridge was basically like them, ignorant, blah blah blah, off he went on his little rant.’

Susanna added: ‘Does that resonate in any way?’

Piers continued: ‘I thought, oh my god. Imagine you are a working class, northern Labour voter who voted Leave. You’ve got this mulit-millionaire entitled Hollywood brat telling you your vote doesn’t count. Well, good morning Mr Coogan. Turns out what you said doesn’t count. Good morning Mr Grant, what you said didn’t count.

‘In fact, if anything, you both had the complete opposite effect and helped get Boris elected.’

Other anti-Tory stars have made their opinions on the Conservative majority known, as Stormzy retweeted a post calling Thursday ‘a dark day for minorities’ and Lily Allen retweeted a post reading: ‘Vote for your kids to die with no healthcare and less brown ppl but the joke is capitalism needs cheap foreign workers to exploit so will NEVER reduce immigration so jokes on.’

However, others were celebrating, including Rachel Riley, who thanked Britain for Labour’s losses.

Labour suffered major losses in the election, with leader Jeremy Corbyn indicating he will stand down following the results.

Meanwhile, Liberal Democrat leader Jo Swinson lost her seat to SNP rival Amy Callaghan.
