Piers Morgan appears to take Amanda Holden's side amid Phillip Schofield 'feud'

Piers Morgan, 54, shared his thoughts on the supposed feud between Amanda Holden, 48, and Phillip Schofield, 57, as he branded his former Britain’s Got Talent pal as the “nicest and most genuine person”. The Good Morning Britain host made an appearance on Amanda’s new show on Heart breakfast today and later took to Twitter to praise his former colleague. In view of his 6.69 million followers, the outspoken presenter wrote: “Trust me @AmandaHolden is one of the nicest and most genuine people in this tawdry business – and I’ve met most of them…” His tweet comes after he replied to a message from a fan who praised the ITV favourite for taking part in her morning show.

The person in question wrote: “Good for you Mr Morgan. At a time when Amanda is getting such a lot of unnecessary criticism for being honest, it’s good to see she has some genuine friends.”

Amanda and Phillip’s feud is claimed to have gone back to when Holly Willoughby took time off This Morning to present I’m A Celbrity…Get Me Out Of Here!..

Previous reports claimed Phillip had “pushed” for Rochelle Humes to be Holly’s stand in, despite Amanda reportedly being told she had the presenting job.

After their apparent feud recently hit the headlines again, Amanda addressed the reports on her radio show earlier this week and said to her co-star Jamie Theakston: “I’ve moved on from it, Jamie, you need to move on from it.”

He replied: “You might have moved on but I just wanted to know, is there anymore to the story?”

Amanda added: “I did offer to meet him for a coffee months ago, he didn’t reply to my text. What can I say?”

Jamie noted: “The olive branch had been extended.”

Phillip took to Twitter following the reports and wrote: “The end of another really sad weekend. When you try for 35 years to be the easiest, most fun person to work with and you read such hurtful and wildly untrue stories from nameless ‘sources’.

“Obviously I’ll take it on the chin.. I just hope you know me better.”

Meanwhile, Piers sat down with the talent judge on Heart FM today where he quizzed the star on being a part of his ITV series Piers Morgan’s Life Stories.

The Good Morning Britain host admitted the TV personality had always knocked back his requests for her to be his guest on the show.

Reflecting on their history, the she replied: “You already know my life story, you splashed it across the papers.”

Amanda was referring to Piers’ stint as the editor of the Daily Mirror, when he published numerous stories about the star’s marital woes with her first husband Les Dennis, 65.

The former couple divorced in 2003 after affair rumours put their marriage on the rocks.

Meanwhile, Piers’ new prison series, Psychopath, will be hitting screens tonight – where the journalist comes face to face with killer Paris Bennett.

Psychopath with Piers Morgan airs tonight on ITV at 9pm.

Express.co.uk contacted Phillip Schofield’s and Amanda Holden’s representatives at the time.
