Piers Morgan, Linda Lusardi and Dan Walker have led the celebrity stars wishing Prime Minister Boris Johnson a speedy recovery as he’s rushed to intensive care with coronavirus.

A statement released from 10 Downing Street this evening stated that Boris’s conditioned had worsened over the course of today, and he was now being looked after in the intensive care unit St Thomas’s Hospital, London.

He was previously sent in across the weekend after still suffering from coronavirus symptoms, but had tweeted only today to say that he was ‘in good spirits’ despite earlier reports that he was on a ventilator.

Now his condition has worsened, dozens of celebrities have sent well wishes and messages of a speedy recovery for the Prime Minister.

Piers led the charge on Twitter as he said: ‘This is an incredibly serious situation for the British prime Minister.

‘Boris Johnson’s condition with #coronavirus at St Thomas’s Hospital has dramatically worsened in the last few hours & he was moved into intensive care at 7pm. Fight hard Boris – we’re all rooting for you.’

Linda Lusardi, who has just recovered herself from the Covid-19 virus, added: ‘Please say a prayer for Boris tonight. Sending him love and positivity.’

Others were sending their thoughts to Carrie Symonds, Boris Johnson’s girlfriend who is pregnant with the couple’s first child.

She has also been in bed for a week after also suffering symptoms of the virus, but had posted a tweet saying that she was ‘on the mend’

While Boris is in hospital fighting the virus, Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab has been appointed to ‘deputise for him where necessary’.

A Number 10 spokesperson said: ‘Since Sunday evening, the Prime Minister has been under the care of doctors at St Thomas’ Hospital, in London, after being admitted with persistent symptoms of coronavirus.

‘Over the course of this afternoon, the condition of the Prime Minister has worsened and, on the advice of his medical team, he has been moved to the intensive care unit at the hospital.

‘The PM has asked Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, who is the First Secretary of State, to deputise for him where necessary. ‘The PM is receiving excellent care, and thanks all NHS staff for their hard work and dedication.’
