Arsenal found themselves 2-1 down in their Europa League last-16 first leg after after Nacho Monreal converted into his own net.
But it was in the build-up to the goal that Arsenal were really exposed – and Aubameyang did not help matters.
Arsenal were scrappily defending a Rennes attack and failed to clear the ball on two occasions.
Eventually the ball came out to Rennes star Ramy Bensebaini on the edge of the area.
Aubameyang successfully intercepted the Algerian before he could properly get his shot away, with the ball dribbling wide of the mark.
But Aubameyang – rather than stay in his defensive position – turns to appeal to the referee for a goal kick!
What the striker did not realise was that the ball actually hadn’t gone out.
And while he was still complaining to the ref, the ball was crossed back into the Arsenal area and Monreal diverted it into the net.
With 11 minutes remaining Aubameyang was subbed off for Sead Kolasinac, as Arsenal looked to hold on in the two-legged tie.
And Aubameyang was seen visibly frustrated on the Gunners bench.
