Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang stars in Arsenal training kit launch

Arsenal have given their clearest indication yet they are not planning on life without Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after he starred in the launch of the club’s new training kit.

The striker’s future has been up in the air with his contract situation still unresolved.

Aubameyang is said to be holding out for a minimum three-year contract worth £250,000 per week, but also wants assurances the club can match his ambitions.

While talks between both parties remain ongoing, Aubameyang has had no qualms about modelling The Gunners’ new training range for next season, which was unveiled on Tuesday.

The club announced the launch in a post on their official Twitter account, which featured an image of Aubameyang posing in Arsenal’s new training jacket.

Images of only three players were used in the post, which also showed Lucas Torreira and David Luiz in some of the latest kit.

The post comes just a day after Aubameyang teased he is ready to put pen to paper on a new deal.

In his strongest hint yet, Aubameyang reacted to a request from a fan on an Instagram Live video, asking him to “Blink if you’re gunna sign.”

The 31-year-old duly responded with a wink, before repeated the action but this time in a more exaggerated manner and with a big smile on his face to ensure it was not missed.

Arsenal’s captain has been a hugely important figure at the club this season, and is still chasing down Leicester’s Jamie Vardy for the Golden Boot.

Vardy, 34, turned his back on a move to Arsenal when he was a similar age to Aubameyang, and has continued to fire in the goals for Leicester since.

Now Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has admitted he takes inspiration from Vardy’s form – after the striker netted his 100th Premier League goal at the weekend – and is confident his talisman Aubamayeng can achieve the same successful longevity.

“I would like to see where Leicester were today without Vardy in the last three years,” Arteta said.

“So I think it is a really good example to consider at least. And, as well, considering both players they are always available.

“They are players that are so resilient and they are able to play 50, 55 games every year and they have been scoring in a consistent way. That’s why I don’t doubt Auba.”
