Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang revealed Freddie Ljungberg told his Arsenal players to play with a higher tempo after a miserable first-half performance against West Ham.

It looked like it was going to be another bad day at the office for the Gunners, who put in an awful display for the first hour of the match, finding themselves 1-0 down to Angelo Ogbonna’s header.

But after Gabriel Martinelli fired Arsenal level, the tide turned.

Goals from Nicolas Pepe and Aubameyang completed the comeback and the latter gave an insight into what interim manager Ljungberg told the Arsenal dressing room in the break to help them turn the match on its head.

‘We feel good,’ Aubameyang told Sky Sports. ‘I think we played well in the second half so we are happy to win this game.

‘We tried to put some tempo in the game and to play fast and find spaces, and we did that.

‘At half-time, Freddie [Ljunberg] told us to play with a higher tempo. It was tough but we have the quality in the squad, and if we believe in ourselves, we can go forward and win games.

‘We will take this second half as an example for the rest of the season.’
