Phoebe Waller-Bridge Is Bringing Fleabag To The West End For One Last Revival

Some good news for those still mourning the end of Fleabag: Phoebe-Waller Bridge is finally bringing the one-woman play that inspired the hit series back to the West End. Opening at Wyndham’s Theatre on August 20, Waller-Bridge will of course play the title character, with long-term friend and collaborator Vicky Jones set to direct. It will be the final revival of Fleabag following a sold-out run off Broadway at Annapurna Theatre this spring.

In classic fashion, Waller-Bridge’s only comment on the news was simply: “Looooonddddooooonn!!” followed by both a heart and a devil emoji. The move is of course a homecoming for the actress, who first previewed Fleabag at Soho Theatre in 2013 before bringing the character to Edinburgh Festival – later adapting it for television after it became a runaway success. Tickets for the play will go on sale today from 3pm.

The West End play is just one of many projects that Waller-Bridge currently has in the works. Not only has she produced the most recent series of Killing Eve, but she’s now lending her screenwriting talents to the as-yet-untitled Bond 25 film at the request of Daniel Craig himself. Most exciting of all? Her forthcoming HBO series Run, a romantic thriller that she will both produce and star in as a character named Flick.
