Phillip Schofield in coronavirus 'self-isolation' concerns after Paris trip with family

Phillip Schofield opened up about his concerns and even questioned whether he should “self-isolate” over the ever-growing Coronavirus pandemic, which is spreading across the globe at a rapid rate.

The This Morning star jetted off to the French capital, Paris, for a family trip alongside his wife Stephanie and his two daughters, Molly-Mae and Ruby.

Europe’s first case of Coronavirus in Europe was reported last month in France and the first, and so-far only, death in the country was confirmed on February 15th.

Swiftly after returning from Paris, Schofield questioned whether This Morning should be “shut down” following his break around the Parisian streets.

During a chat on the hit morning show, Phillip, 57, said: “Last week I was in Paris, so do I put myself in self-isolation? Do we shut down this place?”

Holly Willoughby’s co-star was joined by LBC presenter Nick Ferrari and former Coronation Street actress Nicola Thorp, who added that the current guidelines “don’t seem to be particularly clear for everybody”.

Nicola added: “It does seem like we’re constantly talking about coronavirus without talking about the implications of how it could be spreading.”

She also went on to say that she had sympathy for parents who are having to deal with their children being sent home from school as the virus spreads.

The 31-year-old star added: “What about these poor parents who suddenly have to… and the kids are going to be hanging out, possibly together, back at home.”

Phillip had spent several days in the city with his wife and their two daughters during the half-term break.

The foursome enjoyed quality time with one another as Phil took a break from his presenting duties.

But, he did ensure that his millions of followers were kept in the loop as they shared multiple pictures from their holiday.

Steph and her husband grinned as they posed in front of the world-famous Eiffel Tower and also in front of an illuminated red love heart with their offsprings.

Yesterday’s show saw Holly and Phil joined by Virologist, Stephen King.

King said: “Seasonal influenza is still a major health concern.

“One piece of advice is if you can get the flu vaccine, get it because then you know that you’re not going to have flu and you won’t confuse those symptoms with potential coronavirus.

“We still need to be vigilant of all the other nasties during the flu months.

“They are entirely different viruses. The vaccine and drugs we have against influenza won’t protect you against coronavirus.”

The Foreign Commonwealth Office currently states: “There is an ongoing outbreak of coronavirus. The virus originated in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China

“But cases have been confirmed in other parts of China and in some other countries, including France. You should comply with any additional screening measures put in place by the authorities.”

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10am.
