Philippe Coutinho drops hint on future as he's linked with a return to Liverpool

Philippe Coutinho has suggested he will not be returning to Liverpool, despite claims Jurgen Klopp is considering handing him an olive branch.

Coutinho, 27, failed to live up to the billing at Barcelona after completing a £142million transfer from Liverpool back in 2018.

The Brazilian is currently out on loan at Bayern Munich, but the Germans have no intention of making the switch permanent, meaning Coutinho is set to be in limbo come the end of the season.

Liverpool have been linked with re-signing the midfielder in recent weeks, amid claims Reds boss Klopp was looking into loaning him back in the summer window.

But Coutinho has seemingly poured cool water on a Liverpool return, pointing out that he took another path and doesn’t look back on what was.

“Liverpool is flying, and it doesn’t surprise me,” Coutinho told Sports Illustrated.

“We’ve seen it already last year when they won the Champions League, but I’m also not surprised because of their fantastic squad and manager.

“I don’t look back. I took another path, and now I am on another journey, much like everyone else.

“I’m focused entirely – just like them – on reaching my dreams. I’m happy with what I did in the past, and now I can only look forward.”
