Phil Schofield apologises as This Morning 'ruins' Remembrance Day silence

Phillip Schofield was forced to apologised to This Morning viewers when a two minutes’ silence for Remembrance Day was interrupted.

The show was broadcasting live streams from across the UK including the Cenotaph in London, as Phil and co-host Holly marked the nationwide tribute.

But as they were paying their respects to those who have lost their lives in combat when the clock chimed 11am, an announcement boomed on screen from City Hall in Belfast.

A man said: “It is two minutes past 11, thank you for joining us in this act of remembrance and observing the two minutes’ silence.”

Cutting back to the studio, Phil said: “I think someone’s watch was wrong halfway through the two minutes’ silence there.

“But these things happen.”

One viewer ranted: “This Morning c**ked up two-minute silence. Not only did they have talking during the silence but then cut off the end of the silence to have a chat. Wow.”

Another raged: “Well done This Morning for completely f***ing up the two-minute silence!”

A third complained: “You spoke over half the 2 minute silence! I had to turn over to BBC as I thought my phone must be wrong. Not good! #ThisMorning “.

Another viewer joked: “Lest we forget… how to tell the time.”

But others stuck up for the man who spoke, with one tweeting: “It wasn’t the fault of #ThisMorning or @Schofe and @hollywills that the man from Belfast spoke during the 2 minutes silence.

“The Belfast clock must be slightly out!”

* This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV
