Odds: 4/11

When Liverpool signed Virgil Van Dijk in December 2017, few could have predicted the impact he would have on The Reds backline. Gary Neville recently likened the defender to Manchester United great Jaap Stam and it’s easy to see why.

Van Dijk has been an ever present in the Liverpool defence this term and has helped the Reds boast the best defensive record in the League.

The current bookies’ favourite has also netted 7 goals this season as Liverpool chase a first ever Premier League title.

Raheem Sterling

Sterling is among the favourites for the award

Sergio Aguero

Aguero has had yet another great Premier League season

Odds: 14/1

Currently the top scorer in the Premier League, Aguero is on track to secure a second Golden Boot.

Netting 19 goals to date, which equates to a goal every 105 minutes, Aguero has the best strike rate in the league.

The Argentinian forward cemented his place in Manchester City folklore this season with his goal against Chelsea making him Manchester City’s highest ever goalscorer.

Sadio Mane

Sadio Mane has had one of his best seasons to date

Salah is unlikely to defend his Player of the Year crown

Odds: 50/1

The third Liverpool player in contention, and Last years winner, Mo Salah is having another impressive season.

Salah is just one goal behind Aguero in the scoring charts and appears to have his mojo back in recent weeks, netting a crucial second in Liverpool’s win at Southampton last weekend.

The Egyptian hasn’t quite reached the same heights as last year, but 18 goals and 9 assists from 33 Premier League appearances is still a good return..

Another Manchester City player in the running and it’s no surprise to City fans, who emphasises importance for the side.

Two of City’s three defeats in the league this season came when Fernandinho was injured back in December when Crystal palace and Leicester beat the Champions.

Fernandinho will be a big miss for City when he decides to retire. The wealth of forward options at City means there are few who can fill in for the Brazilian when he is injured.

Hazard is Chelsea’s best player – but probably has not done enough to win

Odds 50/1

The only non-Liverpool & Manchester CIty player on the list is Eden Hazard won the award back in 2015 and appears to playing better than ever.
