Chelsea‘s performance and technical advisor Petr Cech believes Frank Lampard is uniting the club with his ‘determination and work ethic’.

The former Blues goalkeeper who spent 11 years at Stamford Bridge returned in an advisory role at the end of last season.

Given the west London side’s transfer ban in the summer and subsequent emphasis on youth, the 37-year-old feels Lampard fits the brief perfectly.

Cech told BT Sport: ‘The big advantage is that everybody knows Frank from his playing time. The determination, his work ethic and personality.

‘Put it together with the fact that we wanted to unite the club in many ways, the club knew there was the transfer ban for a part of this season and we wanted to use the younger players whilst we try to make this all work together in cohesion.

‘Having signed Frank we believe that he has a bright future as a manager.’

This season has seen the first-team debuts of several young players including Fikayo Tomori, Reece James, and Tammy Abraham.

When asked if that decision was made through choice or necessity, Cech replied: ‘Some of the players got their chances because of the transfer ban so some of them benefited from it but I don’t think it was the main reason.

‘In the case of Tammy Abraham or Mason Mount on their loan spells last year they were absolutely brilliant.

‘When you send a player on loan you send them to get experience as much time and you hope they will do well then you can bring them back and put them in your team.’
