Pete Davidson appears to be having a ball filming for The Suicide Squad as he was spotted giggling away during the latest set pictures.

The star, who’s set to play Blackguard in the upcoming flick, seemed to be taking to it like a natural.

Appearing on set in full costume, the star could be seen alongside Nathan Fillion (Arms-Fall-Off-Boy), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), and Sean Gunn (Weasel).

Also seen in the snaps are Flula Borg (Javelin), Michael Rooker (Savant), and Mayling Ng (Nongal).

Did someone say dream team?

It was first reported that Pete was in talks to star in the movie back in September, joining an already stellar cast, including the likes of Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), and Viola Davis (Amanda Waller).

Peter Capaldi is also said to have joined the movie, which is being directed by James Gunn, although there wasn’t any sign of him in the set pictures.

Producer Peter Safran also previously clarified that the new movie will be a ‘total reboot’ rather than a sequel to the 2016 flick.

‘First of all,’ he told JoBlo, ‘we don’t call it “Suicide Squad 2” because it’s a total reboot, so it’s “The Suicide Squad”.’

He added: ‘It’s everything you would hope from a James Gunn script and I think that says a lot and that promises a lot and I know that we will deliver a lot.’

The original Suicide Squad feature film featured the likes of Will Smith, Cara Delevingne and Margot Robbie and, while it performed well at the box office, it was also widely panned by critics.

Meanwhile, James has shrugged off any criticism about him directing a DC movie after his work on Guardians by sharing a sweet scrapbook gift he received from pals at Marvel.

‘As I’ve said so many times, at the end of the day, Marvel & DC fans have a lot more in common than they do not. I am now & have been for almost all my life, both,’ he wrote.

‘Maybe you like one more than the other – that’s cool – but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy them all or that you have to tear the other down.

‘I know I & my partners at both Marvel & DC believe what’s good for one studio is generally good for all: spurring each other on daily with heartfelt, spectacular & innovative entertainment that keeps audiences around the world loving movies based on or inspired by sequential art.’

Finishing up the sweet message, the 53-year-old wrote: ‘#marvel #dc Let’s go, team(s).’

The Suicide Squad is set to premiere on August 6, 2021.
