PES 2020 Demo: Official Arsenal ratings revealed

After another season outside of the top four, Arsenal are looking to rebuild.

Big dressing room characters Aaron Ramsey and Petr Cech have left the club, with the Gunners scratching their heads as to how they didn’t qualify for Champions League,

The Gunners are one of the partner clubs for PES 2020, and as a result feature on the game’s demo. You can play as the Arsenal up against the likes of Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Juventus and Manchester United, but how do the compare to those European heavyweights?

RealSport looks at how the North Londoners are rated on the demo of the biggest PES game we’ve ever seen.

Arsenal Team Rating

The Gunners have been given a four and a half star rating by Konami. This is made up by 83 forward, 82 midfield and 83 defence ratings.

The game claims the Arsenal system is a 3-2-3-2 formation, but it is in practice a 3-4-1-2. With no wing-backs in PES, it cannot recreate their usual 5-2-1-2 under Unai Emery.

The top performers, Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang lead the club as the two highest overall players but what about everyone else?

Bernd Leno (OVR 86)

Position: GK

Age: 26

Country: Germany

At the start of the season, Bernd Leno struggled to keep his place in the starting 11 with Petr Cech having priority in Unai’s side. From December, Leno began to play more and show exactly why he was worth the £19 million fee with save after save. The German earned points for the club throughout the season and his hard work has definitely not gone unnoticed. It deserves his rating next season of a slight upgrade.

Sokratis (OVR 85)

Position: CB

Age: 30

Country: Greece

Sokratis had the horrendous job of trying to defend in an Arsenal shirt last season. Unfortunately for him, Arsenal kept an even worse defensive record than the previous campaign. We feel he has been at fault in places, however, the passion and desire he has brought to the team is something the Gunners have missed.

Laurent Koscielny (OVR 84)

Position: CB

Age: 33

Country: France

Despite recent disobedience shown from the Arsenal captain, Konami give Laurent Koscielny an 84 overall. He is the second best centre back in the team and despite his recent controversies he will still play throughout the season if no injuries head his way.

Nacho Monreal (OVR 82)

Position: LB

Age: 33

Country: Spain

The Veteran full back has remained in the Arsenal starting line-up. Some may say by default as other contenders are not good enough to fill the position. As a centre back Monreal is 77 OVR but move him to a left back in a back four to get full use out of him.

Hector Bellerin (OVR 83)

Position: RB

Age: 24

Country: Spain

Injury plagued Bellerin will not be ready by the start of the season. As a RMF his rating is 80 OVR but in a back four his overall goes up to 83. His best asset remains his pace. Let’s hope he puts his injury problems behind him and shows his strengths in attack and defence.

Lucas Torreira (OVR 84)

Position: DMF

Age: 22

Country: Uruguay

Lucas Torreira has fitted in well to the Arsenal team with a strong defensive effort. His ability to break-up the midfield and cut-out passes has been exactly what Arsenal have been missing since the ‘Invincible era’. Rumoured unrest in North London has seen him linked with a move back to Italy, but simply, the Gunners cannot afford to lose him.

Granit Xhaka (OVR 84)

Position: DMF

Age: 26

Country: Switzerland

Granit Xhaka had an up and down season with some fantastic highs mixed with some shameful lows. He has bailed Arsenal out with some phenomenal finishes in crucial games, but he has also been at fault with some poor passing, defending and tracking of his opponents. With rumours circulating of an exit from the Emirates, we feel it has been another season where he has not quite justified his price tag of £30 million.

Sead Kolasinac (OVR 83)

Position LB

Age: 26

Country: Bosnia & Herzegovina

Despite heroic displays on a North London road last weekend, Premier League performances have lacked consistency which has led to high levels of criticism. The Bosnian has kindly been given an 83 overall. In our eyes we see this as very generous especially on the defensive side of things.

Mesut Ozil (OVR 85)

Position: AMF

Age: 29

Country: Germany

We consider Mesut Ozil Arsenal’s ‘Talisman’. Last season, he has provided glimpses of magic to reflective of his quality, but nowhere near his £350,000 a week wages. He has failed to turn-up in ‘bigger’ games and as a result, and only played in 51% of Premier League minutes in the campaign.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (OVR 88)

Position: CF

Age: 30

Country: Gabon

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s first full season in the Premier League has been nothing short of successful despite the club not following suit. Aubameyang, alongside Liverpool duo Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, received the Golden Boot for bagging 22 goals last term, backing up his £55 million transfer fee.

Alexandre Lacazette (OVR 87)

Position: CF

Age: 27

Country: France

Alexandre Lacazette has been one of Arsenal’s most consistent players last season providing key goals for the club. Initially, Emery didn’t play him and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang together, but once the forwards linked up, the performance levels increased for both players. They complimented each other so well last season, scoring 50 goals between them.

On the bench

Deyan Iliev (OVR 65) has been trapped in the U23s and has now moved to first team, and is on the bench ahead of David Ospina (OVR 82) who was on loan at Napoli last season.

Shkodran Mustafi (OVR 81) has had yet another disappointing season. He has done more harm than good in most games, and it is a surprise Emery has kept him this summer.

Rob Holding (OVR 77) was performing extremely well last season, but an injury ended his campaign at Christmas. Konstantinos Mavropanos (OVR 73) receives a fairly generous rating for someone who did not play many games last season, whereas Zech Medley (OVR 64) the youngster is full of promise and Konami have given him a fair rating for his age.

Mohamed Elneny (OVR 77) has not justified a place in the first team this season with poor performances every time he steps out to play. Matteo Guendouzi (OVR 77) produced some mature and capable performances in all competitions has earned the 19-year-old a regular place in the first team.

Joe Willock (OVR 68) made a few bench appearances, giving him gradual experience to help develop, and more of the same should follow next season. After not being able to play in the Europa League final, Henrikh Mkhitaryan (OVR 82) will look to get his team back into the final so that he won’t miss the opportunity again.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles (OVR 75) showcased versatility last season filling in at full-back or wing-back, but needs to concentrate on one position if he is to develop.

Alex Iwobi (OVR 80) may not get as many minutes this season due to the arrival of Nicolas Pepe, but Eddie Nketiah (OVR 67) is a young Gunner who will get some game time to improve his impressive skill set.

Summer Transfers

Nicolas Pepe is about to arrive from Lille after a very good season in the Ligue 1, his £72 million move to the Emirates puts him in good stead for the upcoming season.

Alongside him is Dani Ceballos who has joined the Gunners on a season-long loan from Real Madrid. The central midfielder will look to get some starting 11 game time as the season unfolds.

As for the fringe players, season after season Carl Jenkinson (OVR 73) gets minimal playing time, and it’s surprise to see him at the club. Youngster Joel Osei-Tutu (OVR 64) is unlikely to make many appearances but training with the first team will help him improve.

Callum Chambers (OVR 76) has a solid rating and impressed on loan at Fulham last season, but is still a fringe player for a team of this calibre.

Bukayo Saka (OVR 66) is an impressive young winger and still has bags of potential, whereas forward Tyreece John-Jules (OVR 64) has just been promoted to first team and let’s hope for a long and successful career from the Englishman.
