Pep Guardiola sets Premier League record ahead of Sir Alex Ferguson, Jose Mourinho and Jurgen Klopp

Pep Guardiola became the fastest manager to notch 100 Premier League wins in history, taking just 134 games to rack up a century at Manchester City.

Jose Mourinho held the record previously, but Guardiola cruised past his 142-game effort, beating the record by eight games.

Other managers who have raced to a century include Liverpool chief Jurgen Klopp (159), Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson (162), Arsenal hero Arsene Wenger (179), former Liverpool and Chelsea manager Rafa Benitez (181) and Leicester City’s title-winning manager Claudio Ranieri.

Guardiola said of hitting the landmark: ‘It’s a big compliment for the club, players and staff to achieve 100 victories.

‘It’s an incredible achievement for this incredible organisation and big compliments to all the players and staff we had during this period.’

His 100th win came in a 2-0 victory over newly-promoted Sheffield United.

Sergio Aguero thumped the ball into the roof of the net to give City a lead early in the second half before Kevin De Bruyne put the result beyong doubt with less than 10 minutes of regular time remaining.

Chris Wilder’s United had a goal ruled out, with Lys Mousset’s effort chalked off for a marginal offside call.
