Pep Guardiola refused to discuss the failure to award his Manchester City side a penalty before Liverpool’s opener at Anfield.
City were furious with Liverpool’s opening goal after Trent Alexander-Arnold appeared to handle inside his own area.
Referee Michael Oliver waved play on and Liverpool broke before Fabinho lashed in from distance.
City were also unhappy with Liverpool’s second with suggestions Mohamed Salah was offside before scoring.
Guardiola and his staff are believed to have confronted Sky Sports’ Geoff Shreeves at half-time over the two decisions.
The City boss was also seen shouting at fourth official Mike Dean after a second-half handball appeal was waved away.
Guardiola was animated at full-time and angrily shook the hand of referee Oliver before repeatedly stating “thank you so much”.
But speaking to Sky Sports, Guardiola refused to answer questions on the controversial opener.
Shreeves asked him for his thoughts on the penalty, and the City boss insisted: “Ask the referees, don’t ask me.
Pushed for an answer, he said: “Ask Mike Riley and the guys in VAR. I would like to talk about our performance, it was so good.
Asked again about his clash with Oliver at full-time, and if it was sarcastic, Guardiola added: “No way. I congratulate them.”
City had chances to claw their way back into the game and the City boss was full of praise for his players.
“What happened today we showed why are champion, I am so proud of my team, more than ever,” he said.
“We can be proud of how we played against the strongest team in Europe.
“Always we try, never give up that is why we are back-to-back champions. Always fight until the end.”
