Pep Guardiola insists he will not be the man to replace Max Allegri at Juventus and has reaffirmed his commitment to Manchester City.
Allegri has masterminded Juve’s continued domination of Serie A, winning five consecutive Scudetto’s and reaching two Champions League finals.
The 51-year-old, who has been linked with Premier League clubs Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United in the past, will stand down in the summer and a host of big-name managers have been linked with the impending vacancy.
Guardiola, whose City side can clinch an unprecedented English treble should they win Saturday’s FA Cup final against Watford, is said to be among the leading candidates but he insists he has no intention to leave the Etihad.
‘How many times do I have to say?’ he said in his pre-match press conference.
‘I’m not going to go to Juventus, I’m not going to move to Italy. I’m satisfied here, I’m not going anywhere. Next season I will be manager of Man City, I said many times.’
Guardiola gave equally short shrift to the suggestion Antoine Griezmann would become City’s headline summer signing and is confident the club will prove their innocence in a week that has seen the Premier League champions threatened with a European ban for Financial Fair Play breaches.
‘People from Barcelona don’t have to be worried, we are not going to buy Griezmann. We don’t have the money,’ he added.
‘I trust the club and the people, I know we won the Premier League and for the last three or four days people talk about that.
‘If UEFA decided we did something wrong they will punish it, but we are innocent until proven guilty. For human being it’s difficult to understand, but that’s what it is. I spoke with the chairman and the CEO, I know exactly what happened and what we did and I trust them.
‘UEFA are working with the lawyers from Man City, we’re happy to expose all the papers and the documents. I don’t know what happens behind the scenes. We’re innocent today.’
