Pep Guardiola: Man City boss’ agent speaks out on Bayern Munich speculation

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has been rumoured to be on the list of candidates to take over at Bayern Munich, but his agent says no return has been suggested.

The Spanish tactician spent three years at the Allianz Arena, from 2013 to 2016, before taking over at the Etihad.

He has since led City to back-to-back Premier League titles, as well as three domestic cups, and is fighting again this term for the league – though his side trail leaders Liverpool by nine point and are fourth in the table at present.

Following Niko Kovac‘s dismissal at the start of November, Guardiola’s name has been regularly mentioned as a potential replacement, with others including Erik ten Hag and Thomas Tuchel also thought to be of interest to Bayern.

But there have been no discussions at all regarding a potential Pep return, according to his agent Josep Maria Orobitg.

“In football, nothing is certain,” he told Goal. “I spoke with Pep last Wednesday, and everything is the same: He feels good at Manchester City and also in the city of Manchester, and he has a contract until June 30, 2021.

“Nobody but the press contacted me about the future Pep.”

Arsene Wenger had been noted as a possible short-term option, prior to him taking up a new role with FIFA. Hansi Flick, Kovac’s assistant, has been taking temporary charge of the first team at Bayern.
