YouTuber Tana Mongeau is getting a lot of hate for bringing a snake to last night’s MTV VMA’s.
The 21-year-old influencer, who ‘married’ YouTuber Jake Paul a month ago, attempted to pay homage to Britney Spears with an albino python but people did not appreciate it.
Tana posted a photo of herself on the red carpet in a gold-printed mini dress and matching thigh high boots with the snake wrapped around her like an accessory.
Her caption read: ‘snake, b*tch @mtv’.
Fans and critics alike came together to point out it wasn’t right that she was using a live animal as an accessory, with many angered that she would even be compared to the Toxic singer.
One angry fan tweeted: ‘You’re canceled bye. also using live animals for entertainment. It’s 2019 hello?’
‘Britney sweetie I’m so sorry’, another person tweeted, seemingly apologising for the iconic I’m A Slave 4 U singer being compared to the young YouTuber.
However, some fans decided to seize the opportunity to throw jabs at Tana’s controversial husband Jake, 22.
One user commented on Tana’s Instagram post: ‘tana & jake look so good here’, which gained over 1,400 likes.
‘wow jake is lookin slim tonight’, another user commented.
Jake has come under fire multiple times throughout the years due to his habit of pulling questionable pranks.
The former Vine star received a lot of backlash for using the n-word when he was rapping along to a song.
Furthermore, Jake was cut from Disney after his neighbour’s complained of excessive noise that were created from his pranks, parties, fire hazards and his fans.
Meanwhile, Tana has also had quite a controversial summer thanks to staging a fake wedding to her maybe-real maybe-fake husband/boyfriend Jake.
She accidentally exposed herself in her Tana Turns 21 show, saying the ‘aren’t officially exclusive’ and that they’re getting married ‘for the content’.
It seems like Tana is struggling to have a summer without facing any backlash for her actions.
Maybe 2020 will be the year for the YouTube star.
