Pedro hints at Barcelona transfer return with Chelsea contract set to expire in summer


Pedro is hoping for a return to Barcelona with his Chelsea contract set to expire at the end of the season.

The winger has spent five years at Chelsea, and if he gets his way could be on his way back to his former club.

It is not clear whether Chelsea will look to cash in on Pedro by offloading him in the January transfer window, or allow him to run down his contract and leave next summer.

But the 32-year-old Spain international believes he will have the chance to play again for Barca, where he previously spent nine seasons after graduating from the club’s famed La Masia academy.

“Everyone knows what I feel for the club and it’s evident that it’s a possibility to go back,” Pedro told Cadena Ser Catalunya . “I’ve always said it.

“It’s a club I have special love for because I support them.

“I’ve had so many experiences there and was there so many years, I feel loved by the fans.

“It’s an option that’s always there and that I hope could happen.”

During his time with Barcelona , Pedro won three Champions League titles, La Liga five times, the Copa del Rey and UEFA Super Cup three times each, and two Club World Cups.

Since moving to Stamford Bridge he has helped Chelsea win the 2016-17 Premier League title, the FA Cup the following season and the Europa League last term.

He also won the 2010 World Cup and 2012 European Championships with Spain.

On a possible return to Barcelona, Pedro added: “I don’t know if it’s in the hands of the president, the coach or whoever.

“I think for them my return is difficult but it’s clearly a possibility.”

Pedro also tipped his former Barca teammate Lionel Messi to go down as the greatest player of all time, and suggested he should have won more than a record six Ballon d’Or awards.

“I think Leo Messi is going to be the best player of all time,” Pedro said.

“Yes, I also think that some Golden Balls have been lost along the way and that he could have even more.”
