Peaky Blinders season 5: Will Arthur Shelby turn on family after devastating Polly twist?

Warning: This story contains spoilers for Peaky Blinders season five, episode four.

Tonight’s Peaky Blinders was another violent affair, as yet more blood was spilled at the hands of the Shelby clan.

This evening, Linda Shelby (played by Kate Philips) returned to Tommy Shelby’s (Cillian Murphy) house for a ballet-themed party.

It seemed she wanted to join in with the celebrations, but it quickly transpired she wasn’t in a jovial mood.

Linda was looking for her husband, Arthur Shelby (Paul Anderson) after he severely beat up her confident in last week’s episode.

Pointing a gun at the gangster, it seemed Linda had the father of her child right where she wanted him as she prepared to pull the trigger.

Even Arthur seemed at a loss as the nation held its breath waiting for the ominous gunshot.

Tommy realised something was up as he ran outside to witness the horrific scene with his wife, Lizzie Shelby (Natasha O’Keeffe).

However, when the shot fired, it was Linda who fell to the floor with the seemingly fatal wound after being shot by Polly Gray (Helen McCrory).

As the gripping episode ended, all eyes were on Arthur, who was seemingly frozen in time.

Polly appeared to be unapologetic for saving her nephew’s life, while Tommy didn’t quite know what to say.

Sadly for fans, the episode ended right before any further action took place, and Linda lay dying on the floor.

Peaky Blinders viewers know all too well how Arthur has a temper on him, and all he wanted was to get his wife back.

If Linda does die, how will the dissenting brother cope with the betrayal?

Elsewhere in the episode, Polly had warned Arthur about staying too close to Linda.

After disfiguring her friend, Arthur insisted he couldn’t let Linda go, but head-strong Polly told him he needed to find another woman.

Will Arthur accept Polly’s decision and move on with his life?

Meanwhile, Tommy’s life is as tumultuous as ever, following his deal with the devil, Oswald Mosely (Sam Clafin).

As they try to get one over the other, it seems tensions are high – will Tommy or Oswald come out on top?

Peaky Blinders continues next Sunday on BBC One at 9pm.
