The attraction, featuring brand new rollercoasters, rides and shops, will now open in spring 2021.

Also home to Peppa Pig World, the new four-acre land at Paultons Park is based on an Americana-styled land based around a fictional 1950s midwestern town, with eight new rides.

It is also to include the UK’s first free-spinning rollercoaster, Storm Chaser.

Richard Mancey, Managing Director of Paultons Park, said the long delay was due to the pause in construction work: “The decision to delay the opening of Tornado Springs to 2021 has been very difficult to make, particularly as so many of our guests have been eagerly looking forward to enjoying the new rides and attractions.

“We know how disappointing this postponement will be, to both our guests and our staff. After eighteen months of hard work it is very hard to accept that the attraction will not open this year, particularly when it is so close to completion.”

He added: “Everyone who has been involved in bringing Tornado Springs to life has poured their heart and soul into creating a truly spectacular experience, so rest assured it will be worth the wait.”

Other attractions include Al’s Auto Academy, a driving school with electric cars; a water raft ride called Buffalo Falls; and a yet-to-be-revealed attraction called Trekking Tractors.

Tornado Springs is to be the fifth land to join Paultons Park since it opened in 1983, along with Critter Creek, Little Africa and Lost Kingdom.

Sadly, theme parks across the UK have been forced to close their doors due to coronavirus, with new rides and attractions postponed.

The new Gulliver’s Valley theme park has suspended their opening until June while Alton Towers remains closed until further notice.
