Paul Sorvino’s daughter Mira has paid tribute after his death, aged 83.

It was confirmed that the Goodfellas icon had died earlier today, surrounded by his loved ones.

Following the news, the Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion actress honored her late dad on social media, describing him as ‘wonderful’.

‘My father the great Paul Sorvino has passed,’ she began. ‘My heart is rent asunder- a life of love and joy and wisdom with him is over.

‘He was the most wonderful father. I love him so much.

‘I’m sending you love in the stars Dad as you ascend.’

Fans rushed to offer the star comfort and support over her loss.

‘I’m so sorry, Mira. The loss of a loving father is hard, but your memories will see you through the grief,’ one replied.

‘He will always remain a part of your heart and soul. Sending prayers to you,’ another agreed.

A Twitter user said: ‘So very sorry for your loss. He will be missed but not forgotten through the love so many of us had for him.

‘We shared a part of him as he gave us so many memories in his roles. Rest In Peace, Paul. And peace to you and your family.’

As a follower added: ‘Sounds like he was an even greater father than he was an actor. And he was an awesome actor.

‘May your time with him and memories be of comfort at this hard time.’

Mira also posted a black square on her Instagram profile to mark the day.

‘Our hearts are broken, there will never be another Paul Sorvino,’ she said.

As well as this, he made a name for himself in Romeo + Juliet, Law & Order, That’s Life and Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Away from the screen, the actor was a doting father and shared three children – Mira, Amanda and Michael – with first wife Lorraine Davis.

After his death, fans on social media have recalled some of his best moments – including his emotional reaction to watching Mira win the best supporting actress for Mighty Aphrodite in 1996.

Beaming in the audience, he couldn’t hide his tears and broke down as she thanked him while on stage.

‘When you give me this award, you honor my father, Paul Sorvino, who has taught me everything I know about acting,’ she told the star-studded audience.

‘I love you very much, dad.’
