Manchester United expect to have Paul Pogba back at their disposal in around ten days’ time after the midfielder had a protective cast removed.
The Frenchman has been out for close to two months with an ankle fracture and has spent the last stage of his rehabilitation in Miami to recover.
United have sorely missed Pogba in his absence and the midfield pairing of Fred and Andreas Pereira against Sheffield United on Sunday was described as a ‘joke’ by Gary Neville.
United had hoped to have Pogba back for that game but the midfielder has only started running again and the Sun claim he’s on course to return in nine days’ time.
That would make Pogba available for the Manchester Derby at the Etihad on December 7th but rule him out of Jose Mourinho’s return to the Theatre of Dreams three days earlier.
It would be a timely boost for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is currently without midfielder Scott McTominay.
The Scot is also struggling with an ankle injury and is expected to be out for another ten to 14 days with the issue.
United took an inexperienced squad to Kazakhstan for their Europa League clash against Astana on Thursday.
Michael Carrick and Kieran McKenna stayed in Manchester to train the first-team players that did not travel as the club prepare for Sunday’s Premier League clash against Aston Villa.
