Paul Pogba may have missed Manchester United’s 2-0 win at Burnley through injury, but he was still able to celebrate the win at home.

The Frenchman is working back to full fitness after an ankle injury and after coming off the bench in the last two matches, he was given a rest at Turf Moor on Saturday night.

However, he was watching on from the sofa and posted his celebration of Anthony Martial’s opener on Instagram.

Although it wasn’t Martial he has special praise for, it was Andreas Pereira who set up the goal as Pogba wrote: ‘Tiki-taka legend to Martial!’

Pereira showed great tenacity to take the ball from Burnley full-back Charlie Taylor on the right wing before squaring for Martial to finish.

The goal came just before half time and it was a nervy second half for the Red Devils as Burnley pushed for an equaliser, but Marcus Rashford grabbed a second for his side on the break in the 95th minute.

The win takes United to fifth in the table and only one point behind Chelsea in fourth as they also managed to keep their first clean sheet in September.

Rashford had praise for Martial after the game, saying: ‘He’s been brilliant again today, for a forward there’s nothing better than scoring goals so let’s hope he can keep scoring.’

Of Pogba’s surprise absence from the match at Turf Moor, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: ‘Paul has played in two games and has been out for a while and it didn’t feel right to play him today.

‘It’s a quick turnaround some players played quite a bit. Fresh legs are coming in.’

United have another quick turnaround as they travel to take on Arsenal on New Year’s Day in the Premier League.
