Paul Merson thinks there will be an all-English finals in the Europa League and Champions League.

Liverpool and Tottenham are both in the semi-finals of the Champions League, while Arsenal and Chelsea booked their spot in the final four of the Europa League on Thursday night.

Spurs were rewarded for their efforts against Manchester City with a semi-final tie against giant-killers Ajax, while Liverpool take on Barcelona in their semi-final.

Chelsea and Arsenal are favourites to reach the Europa League final and Merson thinks a Premier League side will win both competitions.

‘I think Arsenal probably play Chelsea in the final. I think we could have two all-English finals,’ said on Sky Sports.

‘All about injuries, fitness and confidence [in the final]. It all depends on that day. It’s only confidence, not the ability of the players.’

This season is the first time English teams will appear in the semi-finals of major European competitions in the same campaign since the 1983/84 term.

Chelsea play Eintracht Frankfurt after the Germans produced a stunning comeback against Benfica after losing the first leg 4-2.

Arsenal cruised by Napoli on Thursday night to book a spot against Valencia in their semi-final.

Liverpool have the toughest fixture against Barcelona, who knocked out Manchester United in their quarter-final.
