It’s been almost sixty years since The Beatles formed when John, Paul, George and Ringo took the world by storm. Their huge back catalogue is loved the world over; with over 800 million albums sold worldwide making them the best-selling band in history. However, with so many songs and it being almost 50 years since they split, Sir Paul McCartney admits he finds it hard to remember how to play even the songs he wrote. Speaking with The Mirror, the 77-year-old said: “I have to re-learn everything.”
McCartney continued: “I’ve written an awful lot, you can’t retain them all.
“We go in rehearsal and I’m, ‘Oh yeah, that’s how it goes’.”
Asked if he believes The Beatles songs are “pretty good”, he replied: “I do, I really do.
“Some of the old songs you say, ‘Oh, that’s clever, I wouldn’t have done that’.”
Curtis continued: “And I also had a very sweet letter from [George Harrison’s widow] Olivia and one from Ringo.”
Ringo himself told the Times: “I loved it. It’s a great premise — he’s like us but nobody knows him.”
While Yesterday star Himesh Patel told The Guardian: “We got their blessing – the project wouldn’t have gone ahead without that – but I’m not sure if they’ve seen it.
“It’s weird to think about a Beatle watching me sing their songs.”
